2009 Toyota Highlander Overview- Interior

The 2009 Toyota Highlander carries over virtually unchanged from 2008 model. This popular mid-size SUV is offered in three different trim levels, Base, Sport and Limited, each available in both two-wheel-and-four-wheel drive. It is true that the new Highlander's exterior look will turn your head, but still there is more to it, inside the cabin! The alluring interior will increase your quest to know more about the SUV.

2009 Toyota Highlander Seating

The second-generation Highlander's interior is designed to accommodate up to seven passengers or up to 95.4 cubic feet of total cargo capacity with folding third-row seat and second-row bucket seats. The current model's interior is longer and wider than the previous model. The second row provides 40/20/40 split seatbacks, that functions as either a three-person bench or, as a pair of captain's chairs with armrests by removing the Center Stow™ seat. The third-row seats also function in a similar manner with the help of a lever in the back of the seat.

The Highlander 2WD Base and both 2WD and 4WD Sport models are also available with a two-row seat package. And the new four-cylinder model also comes standard with two-row seating and an available third row seat package.

2009 Toyota Highlander Comfort & Convenience Related Features

The flexible interior of the 2009 Highlander is full of modern amenities. Some of the standard features include, air conditioning; front seats with height-adjustable active head rests; eight-way (10-way on Limited) adjustable driver's seat; power door locks; power windows with driver's window jam protection and auto-up/down feature; UV-reduction windshield; cruise control; multi-function keyless entry system; rear privacy glass; digital clock; conversation mirror; dual sun visors with vanity mirrors and sliding extensions; full-size spare tire; illuminated entry system; manual tilt and telescopic steering wheel; scheduled maintenance indicator light; and much more.

The Base and Sport models feature a standard AM/FM/CD audio system with six-speakers; while the Limited models feature an AM/FM/six-disc in-dash CD changer with six speakers, MP3/WMA playback capability and satellite radio capability. All audio systems are equipped with a universal mini-jack.

Again, the Sport and Limited models feature a standard backup camera with a 3.5-inch multi-information display, which includes a backup camera monitor, clock, outside temperature, warning messages and cruise information, such as average fuel economy, average speed, distance to empty, current fuel economy and trip timer.

2009 Toyota Highlander Interior Safety

Highlander provides the most inclusive airbag coverage known to any Toyota mid-size SUV. The safety airbag package includes, advanced driver and front passenger airbags, a driver's knee airbag and front seat-mounted side airbags. In addition, there are also roll-sensing side curtain airbags that provide protection to the occupants of all three rows in the event of certain side collisions or vehicle rollovers. All current Highlander models feature front active headrests.
