
2009 Toyota Highlander Specification- Fuel Economy
The Toyota Highlander is one of the best known mid-size sports-utility vehicles in terms of fuel-economy. With the addition of a new four-cylinder engine, the SUV has become even more efficient. The new 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine has an EPA fuel-economy estimate of 26 miles per gallon on the highway and 20 miles per gallon in the city and 22 miles per gallon combined. The engine produces 187 horsepower and a maximum torque of 186 lb. ft. while providing excellent fuel efficiency. It is mated exclusively with a six-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission. The 2009 Toyota Highlander four-cylinder engine comes with Toyota's two-wheel drive mode only.
The 3.5-liter, V6 engine is standard on Highlander Sport and Limited grades and optional on the Base grade. The engine produces 270 horsepower at 6,200 RPM and 248 lb. ft. of torque at 4,700 RPM. The V6 Highlander engine has an EPA estimate of 24 miles per gallon on the highway on two-wheel drive. The engine is teamed with a five-speed electronically controlled transmission, that offers fully automatic shifting as well as selectable manumatic (manual plus automatic) sequential shifting.
