2009 Toyota Highlander | Ride & Handling

2009 Toyota Highlander Specification- Ride Handling

The 2009 Toyota Highlander is available in both two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive, and you have three trim levels to choose from in order to accommodate to your taste. The manufacturer has built the new Highlander on the previous generation model's excellent reputation of superb handling and smooth & quiet ride. Here are a few handling features of the 2009 Toyota Highlander:

  • Four-wheel ABS
  • 3.478:1 axle ratio
  • Brake assist system
  • Four disc brakes including two ventilated discs
  • Electronic brake distribution
  • Electronic traction control via ABS and engine management
  • Fullsize alloy rim under body spare wheel
  • Vehicle Stability control (VSC)
  • Strut front and rear suspension independent with stabilizer bar and coil springs

Highlander's enhanced Vehicle Stability Control helps the driver to maintain control by automatically adjusting engine output and braking force at all wheel. It also provides steering assistance via Electric Power Steering (EPS). The new Highlander also has a corner-braking feature that helps the driver steer in the direction that offers greatest control with the help of the vehicle's dynamic control system.

In addition, all 2009 Highlanders come standard with Hill-Start Assist Control that is designed to prevent the vehicle from rolling backwards from steep elevation. The system provides braking pressure to all four wheels for approximately two seconds, thereby enhancing a smooth start. Again, Downhill Assist Control (DAC), that comes standard on four-wheel drive models only, helps control downhill speed when engine braking is not sufficient. It is basically designed to maintain a constant speed, and maintain handling and steering control by reducing wheel lock under braking.

With better handling, powerful performance and an overall new look, the 2009 Toyota Highlander as an SUV is fun to drive. The precise handling, effortless drive and peaceful ride will definitely be praised by the users. The outstanding performance of the latest Highlander model will once again prove the car to be the best-seller for the company.
