2009 Toyota Highlander Specification- Transmission
Even though, the 2009 Toyota Highlander is a carryover from 2009, it's still very appealing and it comes in three exciting trim levels- Base, Sport and Limited. Among the major upgrades, the Highlander has been equipped with a new standard
four-cylinder engine for 2009. Previously, the mid-sized SUV had only been available with a 3.5-liter V6 or a 3.3-liter V6/hybrid setup.
The 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine is available on the base front-wheel drive Highlander with a new six-speed electronically-controlled automatic overdrive transmission. The engine is rated at 187 horsepower and 186 Ib ft. of torque and it features a variable intake manifold and dual variable valve timing with intelligence (VVT-i) which give the new engine a broad torque curve. A five-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard with the 3.5-liter, V6, 270 horsepower engine. The V6 engine is standard on the Highlander Sport and Limited grades and it is available in both two-wheel and full-time four-wheel drive.
